Our Family
Hey there, we’re the Harveys. Get to know us and how we ended up here.
What’s with the bears?
For the privacy and protection of our children, we do not post their photos on the public internet. So, you get bears instead.
Where we’ve come from.
We’re Amy & Tyler. Together, with our two young children and two Boston Terriers we’re the Harveys. Our oldest daughter, who we’ll call “N”, is elementary aged. Our youngest, who we’ll call “E”, is a toddler. Amy and Tyler both grew up in the midwest and moved together to Southwest Florida in 2010.
Amy’s educational background is in psychology & child development. Tyler has always worked in technology. In fact, up until late 2022, Tyler was working a stable full-time, in person job at a large tech company. After 15 years of clocking in and out and feeling absolutely worn out at the end of every day, it was time for a change. As parents with a child moving into elementary age, it was now or never to commit to making some big moves that would redefine the future for our family.
Who we’ve become
2023 has been a big year for us. In January, Tyler accepted a remote tech role at a new company. This enabled us to take the big leap and commit to homeschooling N & E. Furthermore, this meant that our life was now completely untethered. We can now work and school wherever we want!
Where we’re headed
Years ago, we dabbled in the idea of RV life. To be honest, we had moved past that thought and were primed to purchase a cabin where we could live, work, and learn remotely. However, with the housing market and interest rates where they were, the math just didn’t add up. Instead, we decided to purchase a new-to-us 2016 Keystone Bullet Ultra Lite travel trailer in August 2023. We didn’t want to miss the opportunity to travel with our kids while they were young. We’re now ready to embark on our first of (hopefully) many journeys as a family. We want our girls to grow up learning, experiencing, and socializing in the way that makes sense for them — not the way that the world expects from them.
We’ll be sure to share all of our ups and downs as we go. Thanks for tuning in!
